Job Description
Seasoned Director of Database Marketing experience
in statistics, database mining and advanced analytics
to support eBay's direct marketing initiatives.

Identify the key touch points/factors that drive predictive behavior.

Work with the various segment owners (buyer/seller/activation) at eBay to better understand their needs and perform the needed database analysis in help solving business questions.

Help create a more concise, one-to-one marketing message to drive revenue and ROI for eBay. The offering is more than just "strategic database marketing" more than "customer relationship marketing", it is the differentiating factor of using business intelligence.

Use of database mining & advanced analytics help drive direct marketing strategy

Ability to use database analysis/research and make recommendations that will drive segmentation strategy

Must be able to manage a group of multi disciplinary, statisticians and database analysts.

Must have the ability to work with IT on database needs and structure

Responsible for the full management of the client databases, including planning and implementation of list selects and the reporting and analysis of marketing results and modeling efforts.

Combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluate overall effectiveness of direct marketing programs.

Develop predictive modeling and targeted contact campaigns using data warehouse
-
Proven knowledge of CRM/database marketing strategies and experience in translating marketing objectives into analytical and/or database marketing applications.

Strong statistical skills will include predictive modeling development, customer segmentation, data mining, statistical analysis (predictive modeling), segmentation, forecasting, life-time value, customer contact strategies, campaign set-up and back-end analysis.

Identifying marketing opportunities and testing strategies to optimize resources and improve key marketing metrics.

Provides strategic direction and management of the following key areas: Database Marketing, Data mining, List

Conduct/manage direct marketing analytics including response modeling, regression analysis, customer profiling and segmentation, needs analysis, predictive modeling, and other types of quantitative and qualitative strategic business analysis.

Oversee database management to ensure integrity and accuracy of information; ensures information is leveraged to support marketing programs.

Evaluate response analytics to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and measurement accuracy.

Presentation of analysis within a timely manner and make recommendations.

Develop a test-and-learn cycle to increase response metrics.
JobQualifications
-
Strong statistical background, and must be comfortable directly working with large amounts of data.

Direct marketing experience/savvy.

The candidate must have a bachelor degree with a proclivity towards technical expertise in Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.

Experience with techniques and tools relevant to statistical modeling and analysis including a high level of proficiency with relational databases and statistical/business intelligence software such as: SQL, Access, Excel, Perl, SAS, Splus, MicroStrategy, Brio, OLAP tools, etc.

Knowledge of / experience with, statistical principles, methodologies, techniques (example: Classification, algorithms, variable selection (Chaid, CART, etc), Logistic Regression, Experimental Design, etc.)

Computer programming a plus

Excellent management skills with experience overseeing a database team.
